Benefits of Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy Benefits A

romatherapy accesses the power of essential oils to treat medical conditions, to alleviate psychological ailments, for cosmetic purposes, and to reduce stress. The naturally-derived essential oils of aromatherapy can greatly improve your physical and mental state.

Aromatic bathing is an outstanding method...

There are two ways that essential oils can enter your body that can be safely practiced at home without oversight by a qualified aromatherapist: inhalation and absorption. Inhalation allows essential oil molecules to enter the bloodstream through capillaries in the lungs. Essential oils can also be absorbed through the skin.

Aromatic bathing is an outstanding method for using essential oils. Using essential oils in your bathwater combines two methods. It allows the oils to be absorbed through the skin as you sit in the water. At the same time, you are inhaling essential oil molecules that have evaporated into the air. Bathing also has the advantage that you can do it without the help of someone else.

Begin by filling your bathtub with hot water. Make sure that the bathroom doors and windows are closed. This will help keep the aromatic vapors in the bathroom. Add from 3 to 10 drops of your chosen essential oil to the hot bath water. Mix the water well so that the essential oil is well dispersed throughout the water.

The essential oil you choose depends on the effect you are trying to accomplish.

By the way, this is not a bath where you use soap and clean your body. If you need to clean your body or wash your hair, take a shower before running your aromatic bath.  Also, it is possible that some bathtubs can be damaged by the frequent use of some essential oils. To minimize this possibility, make sure to drain and clean the tub afterwards.

The essential oil you choose depends on the effect you are trying to accomplish. Rosemary will help cheer you up. Chamomile will help you relax and prepare for a restful sleep. An aromatic bath should be a pleasant experience, so enjoy it and take all the time you need.
